Meet Our Team

Jessica is a second year student at Wesleyan, planning on studying neuroscience. Originally from New York City, Jessica shares a passion for both graphical design and the natural sciences. Jessica’s goal is to fuse art and science as a vessel for the voices of underrepresented communities and diverse faculty members, providing an engaging means of understanding the profound research they delve into. Through writing, she hopes to communicate the different perspectives of STEM from these diverse researchers through a storytelling approach as well as sharing other faculty member’s approach in integrating art and the sciences.

Miki is a senior coming from Manila, Philippines. She is majoring in molecular biology and biochemistry. Interested in pursuing a pre-med track, she hopes to learn more about the sciences as well as about women’s health and equitable medical care. By writing for Inclusion in STEM, she hopes to hear from diverse individuals from different STEM fields and learn how their background has shaped their perspective and scholarship. 

The STEM Ambassador Program is overseen by Anika Dane for the College of Integrative Sciences.

Anika Dane, MALS ’19, is an academic, advocate, and mentor. Her educational background is in the arts, sociology, and feminist studies. She has worked at Wesleyan for almost twenty years, supporting multiple science departments and programs. Anika’s research interest is in the intersection of pop culture and mental health.
